What is Airscreen.net?
Airscreen.net is a system that automatically filters junk mail (also known as "spam") and other abuse from being delivered to the mailboxes of Internet America customers. Internet America mailbox customers get this service for free!

What do Internet America customers need to do to take advantage of Airscreen.net?
Nothing! Airscreen.net is cleaning the junk out of your mail right now!

The Airscreen.net" mail cleaning service is just another benefit you get when you use Internet America!

How does Airscreen.net work?
Airscreen.net uses a variety of techniques to detect junk mail and then block reception of those messages. These are continually refined by Internet America to eliminate as much junk mail as possible.

One method used by Airscreen.net is to identify locations that are sending junk mail and to stop accepting mail from those locations until the sending of junk mail from that place stops. This technique is known as the Real-time Blackhole List or RBL. Airscreen.net generates and maintains its own RBL list based on actual junk mail sightings as well as using information provided by some third-party RBL systems.

I run my own mail server. Can I use the Airscreen.net RBL to filter the mail my server receives?
All Internet America customers may access the Airscreen.net RBL. Not all mail server software supports this capability, so you will need to check the documentation or with the manufacturer of your mail server software to determine if the software can do this.

Notice: The ability for Internet America customers to directly utilize the Airscreen.net RBL DNS list data on their own mail servers is provided to Internet America customers on an "AS IS" basis, and apart from providing customers with the details on where the RBL DNS data can be obtained, Internet America cannot provide technical support for how to configure the mail software the customer is using, nor can Internet America be held responsible for any event resulting from the customer making such changes or using the provided data. The Airscreen.net RBL data may be unavailable, may change location, change behavior, or be completely discontinued at any time without notice.

My company is having trouble sending mail to someone with a mailbox at Internet America. Have we been blocked?
If a mail server on your network attempted to send mail to Internet Americas MX servers and the SMTP RCPT TO: handshake (a step that occurs when mail is being sent between computers) was rejected with a message like:

        550 Administrative Prohibition - see http://www.airscreen.net/rbl?10.2.3.4

then that mail server has probably been blocked because it has sent spam to our customers. You can check to see if any blocks exist for your equipment by clicking here . There are also other possible causes that might explain why mail was not accepted, including an invalid mailbox address. Please examine the error messages for details.
